Childbirth and breastfeeding

Childbirth and Breastfeeding

Osteopathy can support you before and after childbirth to make the experience easier and help you recover smoothly. It can also help with breastfeeding difficulties.

Preparing for childbirth

Toward the end of pregnancy, osteopathic care can help prepare your pelvis and perineum for delivery by working on:

  • Mobility of the pelvis and sacrum
  • Elasticity of the perineum
  • The baby's position (if needed)
  • Overall body relaxation

Postpartum

After childbirth, osteopathy can help:

  • Rebalance the pelvis and spine
  • Relieve pain related to childbirth
  • Improve healing (episiotomy, C-section)
  • Ease tension related to breastfeeding
  • Support perineal recovery

Breastfeeding difficulties

Osteopathy can help with breastfeeding difficulties by working on the mobility of the baby's jaw and the position of their head and neck, as well as on tension in the mother's back, shoulders and neck that can get in the way of breastfeeding.
